The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Katniss' sister is chosen by lottery, she steps up to go in her place.
There is only one word to describe this book: wow.
I keep beating myself up because i kept pushing this book away saying I would never read it, and was I being stupid. This is one of these books where you will read it, and your expectations for other books go up. It was an amazing plot and beautifully written and executed. You'll go crazy after reading it; wanting to read the next. Luckily, it's a trilogy so there is more to come.
All the characters feel real, like they have real emotions and things are more real, like it's happening right now. You are not bored with reading it because the detail is brief enough to tell you what is going on but not over-bearing where you say; all-right I get it, they are in trouble, or it's a very bad dark place. I loved this book inside and out. The events were very creative and no matter what happened, something else came up and a new problem aroused that they had to solve. In the end, not all questions are answered, you are choosing sides between whom she should love and be with, and you have the sudden urge to get the next book, and read it over and over again. I love the cover for this book, it portrays it so well. So simple yet so complex. x.

The Den of Shadows Quartet by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
FOUR COMPLETE NOVELS—ONE CAPTIVATING WORLD
In the Forests of the Night
Three hundred years ago Risika had a family—a brother and a father who loved her. Three hundred years ago she was human. Now she is a vampire, a powerful one. And her past has come back to torment her.
Demon in My View
Jessica isn’t your average high school student—she’s an acclaimed published author of vampire fiction. Now two new students at her high school strongly remind her of her favorite characters. But those characters only live in her imagination—right?
Shattered Mirror
Christopher Raneva and Sarah Vida may look like a normal high school couple, but he’s actually a vampire who’s sworn off human blood and she’s an incredibly powerful, vampire-hunting witch. As if that weren’t enough to prevent their love, his past and her future collide when they get tangled up with Nikolas, one of the most reviled vampires ever.
Midnight Predator
Once a happy teenager, Turquoise Draka is now a vampire hunter. Her current assigment is to assassinate Jeshikah, one of the cruelest vampires in history. But to do that, she’ll have to enter Midnight, a fabled vampire realm, as a human slave. . . .
First thing I have to say; Amelia is an amazing writer and I love all her books. I read one of them last year and then once this came out I was so excited. All the stories are totally different, but seem to co-mingle with each other. They all seem to flow together and just thinking that she wrote some of these in high school!? She's pretty amazing.
There are books like this where you seem to favor one certain story; not here. I wouldn't be able to choose which I liked better. They all had great plots, took their time explaining everything but not too slow, and had real characters. Characters in this were well thought out and expressed. Once I finished reading the book, it was sad because you want to know what will happen to everyone. For now, it's just open for your own interpretation of things.
Adding to that, how could someone NOT love this cover and just by looking at it not want to get it or read it. It goes with all the stories great and seems to make sense to me why that is the cover. I would have to say you need to read something written by her. x.

Worst Christmas Gifts
You think you got a really bad Christmas gift this year? I know how you feel. I got three presents and either they were gift cards pajamas which i get every occasion, and things my parents thought i loved but i really hate. I told my parents I didn't want it; then walked away. I felt bad, but hell they made me feel bad with what they gave me compared to what they gave my brother! His gift included expensive clothing from Switzerland, Taylor Swift concert tickets, and I bought him something; he didn't buy me anything. It made me feel great and so special; like i wanted to cry i was so mad. Once I read these though, I felt so much better. For the next week I will be posting two new Worst Christmas Gifts given. x.
Randbrick: My grandma was getting pretty senile in her old age... She used to send me money exclusively, which was alright, but in her later years she started becoming creative, and by creative I mean "batshit insane," delighting in sending me really wacky gifts. I remember one Christmas she flew over, and watched eagerly as I unwrapped her present... It was a g-string. A sparkly g-string. I look at it, I freeze, my mind does a couple cartwheels, and then I turn to look at her. She's shining this great big fucking smile at me, like she just farted while stoned, and after a moment, she says, "It's a european bathing suit!!" like that explained everything.
We all just smiled and nodded.
He-Man: When I was 13 my Grandma just went to a San Fransico (novelty store) and bought all these novelty gifts. I ended up with "The Worlds Biggest Condom" in my stocking.
Hinge: For Secret Santa in eighth grade I got one of those shitty magnetic "travel" chess gameboards, the kind that fold in half to keep the pieces inside and is about 6"x3" folded up. Not too bad.
Except that it had a big red "CLEARENCE" tag on it. For 99 cents. AND it was opened! AND sealed back shut with STAPLES!
Best of all: THERE WERE NO CHESS PIECES!
I was pissed until I saw that it was from the kid in class that we all fucking picked on. Seeing my friend Damien throw the chess game at him from the bus window was gift enough that year.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
This is for everyone, and wishing them a safe and happy holiday! Merry Christmas and hope you remember what Christmas is all about. Enjoy time with family, friends, and have hope that if you are in need of a miracle, you can do whatever and acheive whatever.
Maybe, sometime soon I'll post a picture of my family holiday and some of my favorite people i love to be around. I hope you have people like that in your life. Gosh, this sounds so cheesy, but I think it's the perfect time to say that. This is what makes us either insane or sane. Both sometimes, because you love the people in your life so much, they drive you crazy but thats why you love them. They show you their love by driving you crazy also. x.

The Dark Divine Debut!
Tomorrow, the debut novel The Dark Divine by Bree Despain is coming out! The reason I made this post is because I think everyone should be aware of this book. I read it awhile ago and it has to be one of my favorites. It's amazingly well written with a great plot and is so intriguing you wouldn't be able to put it down. Now, even looking at the cover makes you want to read it, but once you read the synopsis, you'll have to make sure you get in some last minute Christmas shopping! x.
Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared--the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in his own blood--but she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night held.
The memories her family has tried to bury resurface when Daniel returns, three years later, and enrolls in Grace and Jude's high school. Despite promising Jude she'll stay away, Grace cannot deny her attraction to Daniel's shocking artistic abilities, his way of getting her to look at the world from new angles, and the strange, hungry glint in his eyes.
The closer Grace gets to Daniel, the more she jeopardizes her life, as her actions stir resentment in Jude and drive him to embrace the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind the boy's dark secret...and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it--her soul.

Interesting Ramblings
hello everyone,
so, as you know, well i hope you know cause that would be weird if you didn't Christmas is in a week. So on Tuesday, I wont be posting for the rest of the week. I might get on and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I'll be going down to visit my whole family for Christmas which I'm so excited about because I haven't seen them in a year and I miss them like crazy!
There haven't been as many reviews as before, but hopefully, during the break I will finish reading most of my books, and have some reviews up. Then, I will get more books and get them finished! I've been sort of slacking lately, but I've been trying to live my life more than I ever have before and not turn down opportunities. You never know what will happen or how much time you will have left with someone you care about. So making the most of everything, seems to be the most logical situation.
Don't forget to enter my contest if you haven't already, and a new contest will be coming soon! In a couple weeks. More about it soon! Keep checking back. Here is a new leaked 2010 song from JoJo; she has a new CD coming out next year! Her album is going to be great!. Anyways, here you go. x.

You're a Weird One
Once the Harry Potter movie came out, I haven't stopped watching it over and over again. While watching this, I started thinking about all the characters in the movie and what their role was, how they impacted the story and me, and if I liked them or not. So I've started to come up with a list of my favorite characters from either a book or movie, and Luna Lovegood is at the top of that list. She is very interesting and simple, you want to learn more about her. She is fascinating and so weird. She brings something to this movie.
Well, I started thinking she is colorful, interesting, and is different, I wanted to add her to my header. So very very soon I will have it up. Its different from what I usually do, but I'm happy with it. Its not as precise as my other pictures. So I hope you like Luna Lovegood, (Evanna Lynch) because you'll have to see her on my blog now.
Every week I think I will post a new character on which I am obsessed with. This week it's Evanna Lynch who plays Luna Lovegood in Harry potter 5, 6 and 7. Next week, well that will be a surprise. You'll just have to see. Also to add to this, you can comment telling me which character you are obsessed with at the moment aswell. I'll write about them. x.

Tempted by P.C & K. Cast
So…you’d think after banishing an immortal being and a fallen High Priestess, saving Stark’s life, biting Heath, getting a headache from Erik, and almost dying, Zoey Redbird would catch a break. Sadly, a break is not in the House of Night school forecast for the High Priestess in training and her gang. Juggling three guys is anything but a stress reliever, especially when one of them is a sexy Warrior who is so into protecting Zoey that he can sense her emotions. Speaking of stress, the dark force lurking in the tunnels under the Tulsa Depot is spreading, and Zoey is beginning to believe Stevie Rae could be responsible for a lot more than a group of misfit red fledglings. Aphrodite’s visions warn Zoey to stay away from Kalona and his dark allure, but they also show that it is Zoey who has the power to stop the evil immortal. Soon it becomes obvious that Zoey has no choice: if she doesn’t go to Kalona he will exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. Will Zoey have the courage to chance losing her life, her heart, and her soul?
This took me a couple minutes to get into, but afterwards, and everything that happened in the other books came back to me, I started to love this book. At first, I wasn't too happy about reading in Stevie Rae's point of view, but while the story began to grow and evolve, I wanted to know what was going on with her and what she was thinking all the time. Zoey was still full of surprises and she got me annoyed sometimes, but it was perfect because it made her seem human, and when we bring emotion into reading, we get more engulfed in the whole thing.
Zoey is still juggling four boys, but no matter what, I am routing for Stark. He seems to care about Zoey and want to protect her more than anyone or anything. Heath only cares about dating the High Priestess now and is really starting to annoy me, and Erik is obsessed with power it seems. When it comes to Kalona, he seems irresistable, but also a big creep. Once we learn more about him, you feel like he can change, and that there is still good in him, but is it true?
The ending to this book just made it perfect, starving for more. It is shocking and very surprising. It was perfect, and I can't wait for the next installement. Burned.
Plus, I love the cover to this book. It's one of my favorites from this series. x.

What Happened!?
Over the past two months, I have seemed to slow down on all the posting, and Im very sorry for that. My life has become very complicated and putting aside the fact that I have to buy my friend a Jonas brother Calendar, I am getting my hair done, going Christmas shopping, going to a party, and having a sleepover all in one day! Plus not to mention I am juggling friend drama, school culminating projects, figure skating (which I am happy to announce I landed all my double jumps all in about two days; which is pretty hard to do), piano, reading, and just having time for myself. It may seem like I am complaining, but I wouldn't want my life any other way. Craziness seems to make everything seem perfect. That wouldn't make sense, but then again, if you met me, I wouldn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.
Now, TO BOOKS! I will post a review in about 10 minutes maybe. Then I have to finish my English culminating. Scrap booking anyone?! I cut and hot glue gunned an Azalea (which is a flower) in a sketch book. Pretty interesting huh? It's a pretty culminating. It's for the book To Kill A Mockingbird, anyone read that book? I guess i liked it, but i didn't have much time to enjoy it. Our teacher was rushing us to read it. So now, after this boring news, here's a song that I will be singing for our Christmas talent concert with a couple of friends. (In English though.) x.

Working Layout
So, the site might be a little messy for the next week or so. I'm sorry. I'm working on it. I changed the background, I love it :), and then soon I will make a new picture for the header. I dont know what it should look like though, I have NO IDEAS! Any thoughts? It would really help me. I want to do a christmas layout but then once i get it up, I'll have to take it down again, and I dont have much time for that.
For other news, I am going to be having a contest soon. I already have that one up, but it will be up for a while. So I think I might have a New Years' ish contest. Then you will tell me which book you are more excited for the 2010 year, and I will choose two winners. Both will tell me which book they want and I'll get it for them. Sound simple enough? More about it soon so keep checking back.
. . . and hopefully I will have my layout finished next time. x.

Interesting Ramblings
When you think about what you would like to do before you die, you come up with this massive list on what you want. Only, there are only a few people who would actually go out and do it. For me, I have a list which includes skating again,( I used to be a competitive figure skater )horseback ride again, get a tattoo, learn another language, travel all over the world, and the last one is not to die cause there is too much to do, but that's impossible, and unfortunately i have no control over. How sad. Whats on your list? I'm listening.
Sorry about not posting in a while, I have been given a lot of culminating projects, and the one we got for English is ridiculous. Been working on it all day actually, and I'm half way done thankfully. It's due on Tuesday. Oops. Then after that, we have a science project speech due for either Monday or Tuesday. How exciting. Which makes me think that if I wanted to go back into time and change something, what would it be? Hmm, that's a hard one to answer. What would you want to change?
So for boring news for you, but exciting news for me, I actually have started skating again last night. I fell, hurt my wrist, but that's the price i will pay for this. I still love skating any other way. It feels so normal to be on the ice again. Whats the one thing that makes you feel like you can do anything?
And lastly, for the tattoo thing, Im getting one. Next year for my 16th birthday. Yay! It is going to be a poem i wrote down my side. Then after wards, I will probably getting another. I only want about two or three, and hopefully I can stick with that. What do you think of tattoos? Got any ideas of what I should get? Hey! That would make an awesome contest. Okay so now, cause your probably not reading this far, or at all, I'm just rambling to myself now. But that's fine.
Okay SO. Now, LASTLY! Don't forget about my contest. If you haven't entered, well go enter! :) x.

Happy December CONEST!!
Sorry I've been out for a while, but so many things have happened and things are also being settled. Like, I am going to two trips across the world during the summer, now this is a contest and will end in the month of June so plenty of time.
You are going to guess where I am going, both places. Whoever is the closest, where I am going, you can ask for anything. It doesn't have to be related to books. It can be something personalized, or something other people have but you can only get in that country.
So how is that for a challenge. And the more people you get to answer, the more you get to answer, and take another guess. You must be a follower new or old, and you must guess the two places I will be going. Please leave your e-mail.
Open for everyone!
